Setting up a home studio

This is something I am currently working on, and I have almost completed it. Setting up a home studio is a tough job for some and a piece of cake for others, due to their studio structure. Anyways, to set up a home studio for recording, here are the main steps that I followed:

1)Find some acoustic: Your studio is going to be in your house in a particular room, so choose a room which has good acoustics. To know more about acoustics of a room, click here.

2)Lighting: You need to record it, and if you are video recording it, then set up the lighting in the way you want. If you aren't video recording or if you are just voice recording, then keep it the way you feel comfortable.

3)Camera: This is only if you are recording a video of yourself sing. Purchase a good camera, with good display, and make sure you find a spot which does not disturb the acoustics of your room.

4)Mics: This is very very important guys. Its not a joke or not a waste of money, but believe me when I say you really need it. If you think your camera sound recording quality or headphone sound recording quality or even a laptop's, for that matter, matches or is better than a mics recording quality, you are highly mistaken. It's also needed, not optional. Don't just buy any mic, there are different mics for different purpose. Choose carefully.

5)Equipment: Now that you have all this, get equipment to support this. For example, get a tripod stand for your camera, a stable one that too, or a mic stand for your mic, because if you are going to record while playing an instrument, its impossible to hold both.

6)Do not disturb: Set up everything in such a way that the acoustics of the room are not affected in any way.

So this is it guys, its pretty much what you will need to set a studio up. It is actually quite a bit of work, but totally worth it if you are taking stuff seriously. Thanks for reading, and I hope it helped you. Stay tuned for more such posts on this blog!
